Established on
March 25, 2017, the Kenya China Chamber of Commerce (KCCC) aims to provide
services and support for business relations between China and Kenya, and is
committed to promoting friendly cooperation between the two countries,
including cultural exchanges, business cooperation, trade promotion and
investment services. The organization was established in the context of the
current rising demand dynamics of China-Kenya economy and trade, representing
the voices of Chinese businessmen - especially small and micro-enterprise
practitioners - in Kenyan, in line with the needs of the economic and trade
development of the two countries, and to make the economic activities of the
Chinese businessmen in Kenyan more organized, institutionalized and
standardized.
On August 8,
2023, the China General Chamber of Commerce in Kenya (CGCCK) and the National
Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kenya (NCCI-Kenya) signed an important
cooperation agreement, which was signed by Dr. Erick Rutto, Chairman of the
NCCI-Kenya and Mr. Chen Congcong, Chairman of the CGCC-Kenya, on behalf of the
two organisations, respectively, in a landmark agreement aimed at strengthening
trade relations and increasing investment, especially for the textile sector in
the two counties of Kilifi and Machakos. The landmark agreement aims to
strengthen trade relations and increase investment, particularly by creating
20,000 jobs for youth in the textile sector in Kilifi and Machakos counties.
Kenya's Minister
of Commerce and Industry and Trade, Hon. Moses Kuria, has made it clear that
all Chinese investors will be required to report to and be accredited by the
Kenya-China Chamber of Commerce (KCCC) before they can do business in Kenya.
This agreement is filed with the Ministry of Justice of Kenya and is valid for
a long period of time. The agreement aims to jointly promote cooperation
between the two countries in various fields to achieve mutual benefit and
win-win situation.
In order to
further strengthen the ties and communication between the two countries, KCCCI
will open a new consulate in Guangzhou and establish a KCCCI Shenzhen Liaison
Office in Shenzhen to facilitate Kenyan businessmen to go to China. These
initiatives will help promote people-to-people exchanges, information exchanges
and resource sharing between the two countries, creating more opportunities and
advantages for business cooperation between the two sides.
The China Chamber
of Commerce in Kenya has a strong influence and appeal in Kenya. It not only
represents the interests of thousands of Chinese entrepreneurs and investors in
Kenya, but also the honor and charm of the Chinese nation and Chinese culture
in the African continent. It maintains a good relationship with the Kenyan
government, social organizations, media and other circles, and has won their
trust and support. It has also established a wide network of cooperation with
business organizations in other countries and regions to explore more markets
and opportunities for both China and Kenya. It serves as a bridge and link
between China and Kenya, and is a model of China-Africa friendship and cooperation.
We believe that
under the leadership and promotion of the China General Chamber of Commerce in
Kenya, business cooperation between China and Kenya will become closer and
deeper, bringing more benefits and happiness to the people of both countries.
